London base Lou Hayter is no ordinary DJ. Lou is a musician, musical director and a song writer and has already performed for an impressive list of clients. With an extensive collection of vinyl, she is looking forward kicking off Poolside Nights at the Belvedere. Just before her performance, we managed to corner her and ask her a few questions.
What can we look forward to seeing from you this summer?
Well I'm hoping to release the first single from my debut album... but it's taking longer than I planned so we'll see!
What are your favourite summer tunes?
In the summer I like a laid-back vibe. Some nice soul, African Disco and reggae. At the moment I really love "Girlfriend" by Christine and the Queens, and compilation called 'Doing it in Lagos: Boogie, pop and disco in the 1980's'
How would you describe your musical style?
Anything from 60's/70's/80's soul, disco, electro, hip hop, r&b, post punk, African, reggae, acid house, perfect pop, psychedelia... I play what's right for the party I'm at, but I collect everything! My ultimate artist is Prince.
What are your poolside essentials?
A good book, factor 50 sunscreen. My Celine shades. Iced coffee and watermelon.
