Nobu takes Mykonos!

In the early 2000s, while European cities began to embrace Japanese cuisine, few restaurants offered an authentic experience. This culinary shift had yet to reach Mykonos, where the dining scene was dominated by excellent Greek restaurants but lacked diversity. Sensing an opportunity, the visionary Ioannidis brothers set out to change this. In 2003, they transformed the historic Mansion Stoupa, located within the chic Belvedere Hotel, into a pop-up Nobu restaurant. The reception was nothing short of phenomenal.

The success of the pop-up led to something extraordinary: Matsuhisa Mykonos became a permanent fixture, marking the first open-air Matsuhisa in the world. Complete with an outdoor sushi bar, it quickly became a hotspot for jet-setters, A-list celebrities, and culinary aficionados alike. Guests can savor Nobu’s signature Asian fusion dishes—like the famed black cod miso—while soaking in the lively, cosmopolitan ambiance of the hotel’s outdoor spaces. Dining at Matsuhisa Mykonos feels like attending a glamorous party each night, complete with world-class food and endless people-watching.

The restaurant’s vibrant atmosphere is legendary. One evening, a well-known NBA star, lounging by the pool, engaged in a playful game of truth or dare with two models. In true Mykonos style, the game escalated, with the women diving naked into the pool, emerging to the applause of the hotel staff, who discreetly offered towels. It was just another lively night in the glamorous world of the Belvedere, where luxury and spontaneity effortlessly mix.

Every year, Matsuhisa Mykonos kicks off the summer season in style with the much-anticipated Nobu Food Festival. For a few unforgettable days, Chef Nobu himself graces the restaurant, treating guests to an extraordinary culinary experience. This annual celebration has become a beloved tradition, where Nobu’s masterful creations take center stage, blending the New Style Japanese cuisine with the vibrant energy of Mykonos.
