The Origins

Long before the word “tourism” entered the Greek vocabulary, Mykonos was already seducing visitors. By the late 1930s, icons like Melina Mercouri and other members of the Athenian elite, had discovered its allure, thanks to influential personalities like Costis Campanis, an ancestor of Sofia Ioannidou-Campanis, who enjoyed hosting the local aristocracy. From 1960 to 1990, Sofia Ioannidou-Campanis welcomed distinguished guests to her luxurious mansion herself, nestled among cherry blossoms, grapevines, fragrant roses and tall cypress trees. Casting cooling shadows, this Cycladic gem was the perfect island retreat for an unforgettable summer vacation.
